COVID-19 Response

Throughout 2020 and 2021 the Henry Schein Cares Foundation supported key nonprofit organizations providing essential aid during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Foundation is proud to have aided the organizations below in their relief efforts.

Direct Relief

Direct Relief

Direct Relief has provided over 5,500 tons of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other medical resources to those in need. The organization has supported 56 U.S. states and territories, as well as 106 countries.

International Medical Corps (IMC)

International Medical Corps (IMC)

With support from the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, International Medical Corps (IMC) was able to procure and distribute 2,830 pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) – including N95 masks and face shields – to the Kedren Community Health Center (KCHC), located in an historically lower socioeconomic, underserved community of Los Angeles County. The PPE was used to protect medical volunteers and healthcare workers as they immunized Angelenos with the COVID-19 vaccines.

National Foundation for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC Foundation)

National Foundation for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC Foundation)

With support from the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, the CDC Foundation has been able to meet critical needs during the COVID-19 crisis. As part of its overall emergency response to COVID-19, the CDC Foundation has distributed over 8 million pieces of personal protective equipment for frontline workers, provided laboratory and medical equipment and testing support, hired more than 1,000 surge staff for health departments, sponsored national communication campaigns, aided long-term care facilities and community-based organizations serving at-risk populations, and supported much-needed research.

MedShare

MedShare

With support from the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, MedShare was able to immediately deliver a 40-foot container of vital medical supplies and equipment to areas affected by COVID-19. This grant was gifted to MedShare’s Disaster Relief Program Fund.

Americares

Americares

Americares has delivered protective supplies—masks, gowns, gloves and disinfectants—as well as leading support groups and skill-building workshops for health workers in COVID-19 hot spots. Their global distribution network has provided more than 15 million units of protective equipment and infection-prevention supplies to health facilities in 33 countries, including the United States.

Project HOPE

Project HOPE

To date, Project HOPE has distributed over 14 million pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE), provided training for over 98,000 health care workers and frontline personnel, and reached more than 150 countries. Their strategy focuses on providing lifesaving protective gear in high-risk areas, training frontline health care workers to treat COVID-19, deploying medical volunteers to provide surge staffing, and helping health systems around the world ensure continuity of health services.

GLO Good Foundation/SONSIEL

GLO Good Foundation/SONSIEL

The GLO Good Foundation (the philanthropic arm of GLO Science) has partnered with the Society of Nurse Scientists Innovators Entrepreneurs & Leaders (SONSIEL) to donate and distribute desperately needed personal protective equipment (PPE) to the nation’s frontline healthcare workers. Contributions to their SHARE (Strengthen Healthcare Ability to Respond to Emergencies) program have supported the purchase and distribution of tens of thousands of KN95 respirator masks to frontline locations in New York City and across the Northeast.

Children's Health Fund (CHF)

Children’s Health Fund (CHF)

The COVID-19 Community Emergency Response and Recovery Fund was launched by Children’s Health Fund in March 2020 to ensure resiliency and supportive measures are available for children living in this country’s most marginalized communities during and after the pandemic. Their interventions have ranged from increasing access to testing for COVID-19, to direct support for families to mitigate impacts from lost wages.
