Relief Efforts in Haiti, Chile, China and Pakistan Continue
October 2010 — Months after earthquakes in Haiti, Chile and China, and a flood in Pakistan shattered the lives of hundreds of thousands of survivors, Henry Schein and the Henry Schein Cares Foundation are continuing to contribute resources to help international groups assisting individuals, families and entire villages.
As part of this sustained support, the Henry Schein Cares Foundation earmarked $190,000 to 17 organizations involved in ongoing relief efforts in the four nations. This cash donation follows the immediate donation of $1 million in medical supplies to partner non-governmental organizations (NGOs) by Henry Schein and its supplier partners. In January 2010, the financial donation included contributions to the Henry Schein Cares Foundation by Team Schein Members, which were matched by the Company, as well as donations to the Foundation from outside of Henry Schein.
Recipients of the Henry Schein Cares Foundation's donation include the Afya Foundation; American Jewish World Service; the American Veterinary Medical Association; AmeriCares; Direct Relief International; GHESKIO; Give2Asia; Health Volunteers Overseas working with the American Dental Association; Heart to Heart; International Medical Corps; LDS Charities; the National Baptist Convention USA; MedShare; Pan American Health and Education Foundation; Oral Health of Haiti Coalition; Partners in Health; ShelterBox and US Fund for UNICEF.
